Nuruosmaniye Street runs from the mosque of the same name down to one of the main gates of the Grand Bazaar, and it is where Istanbul keeps its established jewellers, carpet dealers and antique shops.
The difference from the bazaar itself is the pace. Prices here are marked more often than negotiated, the shops have windows rather than stalls, and nobody follows you down the street. For carpets in particular this is the calmer place to look, since the dealers expect long conversations rather than quick sales.
The street also gives the best approach to the Grand Bazaar: you arrive through the Nuruosmaniye Gate, which is the least crowded of the entrances. From Hotel Sultania it is a walk of roughly ten minutes.
